A bill is a proposal to create a new law or change an existing one. For a bill to become a law, it has to pass through several stages in both the Senate and the House of Commons. The status of a bill can be tracked from its introduction to royal assent. A bill can be viewed in detail on its individual page, which includes the text of any previous versions, by hovering your cursor over the bill number. Each page also contains a progress bar that shows how much time has been lost due to interruptions or adjournments.

Defence Ministers will respond to MPs’ questions on armed forces families, support for veterans and the defence industrial strategy. There will also be a debate on legal protections for ex-service personnel and the UK’s role in Ukraine. Urgent Questions and Ministerial Statements will follow the main business.
